Country Ham Project
This project is for youth ages 9-18. Youth will learn how to cure and hang two hams. Hams will hang for eight months. Upon curing, youth will be required to give a 3-5 minute speech presentation on a specific topic related to country hams at the Kentucky State Fair. Hams will hang and be monitored at the Adair County Country Ham Barn. Youth must attend ham project days which will be announced at a later date. Parents/guardians of youth are required to provide transportation to and from all ham project activities. Failure to complete the required actions of this project will result in the forfeiting of their hams.
Cost: $75 - which covers the cost of 2 hams, curing mix and supplies
Deadline to register: December 5, 2025 at 3:30 p.m.
To register, stop by the Russell County Extension Office at 2688 S. Hwy. 127, Russell Springs, KY 42642 (located across the road from Mighty Dollar). Parents and youth are required to fill out and sign the country ham project contract.
